‘Man Therapy’ offered to veterans

Man Therapy, a free online mental health resource is launching warrior-specific content for veterans. 

Offering an interactive approach and available 24/7, www.mantherapy.org is where men have a virtual appointment with fictional therapist Dr. Rich Mahogany. By using humor, Man Therapy helps veterans and military personnel tackle the mental health issues they face when transitioning to civilian life. 

Content and resources available include tips on dealing with topics specific to veterans such as disordered sleep, stress and difficult transitions; humorous and heartwarming videos; sports and recreation programs and camps; traumatic brain injury resources; and information for families to support the veterans in their lives.

Holiday card contest, registration open

Registration is open for the Team Hill Holiday Card Lane. 

Organizations are encouraged to create an original “giant-sized” card that represents the unit’s mission and people. 

To be eligible for judging, cards must be registered and in place no later than Nov. 25. Cards must be removed by Jan. 4. The cards will be judged on originality and organizational representation. Hill AFB Tree Lighting takes place Nov. 30

Hill AFB’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 between the Hill AFB Arts & Crafts and Warrior Fitness Center buildings.

Lights turn on promptly at 5 p.m. The family event will include hot cocoa, cookies and a visit by Santa in the Warrior Fitness Center. Volunteers are needed to help with crafts and distributing gifts.

Open Season Health Fair in December

The 2016 Federal Benefits Open Season Health Insurance Fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8-10 at the Warrior Fitness Center, Bldg. 533. Civilian employees will be able to meet face-to-face with health insurance representatives. 

The Open Season Health Insurance Fair affords employees the opportunity to compare health insurance plans and select a plan that best fits the their health care needs. It is recommended that research be conducted prior to meeting with insurance representatives to allow a better understanding of what each plan offers and what plan is best for the employee.

Legal office closed 2 days in December

Team Hill Legal will be closed Dec. 10  and at noon Dec. 18 for official functions.

Christmas Carol Sing-Along

A Christmas Carol Sing-Along featuring Joshua Creek and a full 30-piece orchestra will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City. 

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free to this family-friendly event.

Chief’s Group Scholarship Deadline

Twice yearly, the Team Hill Chief’s Group sponsors the Bi-Annual Education Scholarship, providing a $750 scholarship to any active-duty Air Force, active Air National Guard or active Air Force Reserve (enlisted member or their spouse), within the Hill AFB area, pursuing any degree.

Hill AFB Ski Day scheduled for Feb. 12

Mark your calendar now. Hill AFB military, civilians and their families are invited to a ski day at Snowbasin ski resort on Feb. 12. Many base support functions will be closed and liberal leave is encouraged.

Discount tickets will be available at Hill’s Outdoor Recreation Tickets & Travel office. Equipment rentals will also be available.
