Veterans Job Fair

A free hiring event for veterans, transitioning military members, Guard, Reserve and spouses of those personnel will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Davis Conference Center, 1651 North 700 West in Layton.

More than 120 job offers are expected from 40 different companies. Information on continuing education and business ownership will also be available.

Operation Blackbird Dinner

Spend the evening interacting with pilots and crew members of the historic SR-71 Blackbird Sept. 28 at the Hill Aerospace Museum. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and includes a full-course dinner, panel discussions, and the rare opportunity to sit in the cockpit of the SR-71.

649th MUNS inventory

The 649th Munitions Squadron is currently conducting a 100 percent inventory of the base (FV2027), test (FV2171), and STAMP (FV2304) stockpiles through Sept. 28. Open Aircraft Day

The Hill Aerospace Museum will hold an Open Aircraft Day from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29. Admission is free and open to the public. The event will include food, music, Hill unit demonstrations, displays, and a chance to explore several aircraft including the SR-71. In addition, former SR-71 pilots and crew members will hold panel discussions about their Blackbird experiences. Call 801 801-777-6818 for more information.

Wheelchair basketball game

Team Hill personnel and their families are invited to a wheelchair basketball game from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Warrior Fitness Center in recognition of National Disability Month. ALS open to civilians

Eligible civilian employees can attend Hill AFB Airman Leadership School on a space available basis from Nov. 8-Dec.13. The course is focused on the military profession and teaches skills to effectively lead and manage teams.

Winter Hockey League

The Hill Hockey Club is registering players for the upcoming season. The season begins the first week of October. ‘A’ division plays on Sunday evenings and ‘B’ division plays on Friday and Thursday evenings. Email frank.barker@us.af.mil for details.

Fall cross country

Team Hill personnel and their families are invited to participate in the 2018 fall cross country season through Oct. 25. A total of eight races will be held each Thursday during this timeframe. Races begin at 4:20 p.m. on base and are 3.2 miles in length. Walkers and strollers are welcome. Call Randall at 801-586-1909 for more information.

Hill AFB blood drive

A blood drive will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Hill Air Force Base Chapel Fellowship Hall. Visit www.redcross.org and enter keyword “HAFB” to schedule an appointment. Blood drives will also be held at the chapel Nov. 9 and Dec. 21.

Lot 14 extension

Construction began the second week in September at parking lot 14 located west of building 9 and south of building 23. The project includes relocating the fence line back onto the flight line, adding four light poles, replacing pavement, and striping the lot. During the construction period, sections of the parking lot will be shut down, which will impact personnel in buildings 1A, 3, 5, 9, and 23 who use the lot. Additional parking is located at parking lot 1 located south of Wardleigh Rd. and east of E Ave. The project is estimated to take 3 months to complete and will add 114 regular parking stalls and 13 motorcycle stalls to the lot.
