HILL AIR FORCE BASE — About 400 people attended the Airmen of the Year banquet Saturday to name the 419th Fighter Wing’s top performers for 2015.
Military personnel, families, business leaders and wing alumni heard from keynote speaker Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox during the formal event at Layton’s Davis Conference Center.
During his remarks, Cox talked about the value of Utah’s Air Force reservists and thanked them for their service.
“There are people out there saying that we need to make America great again,” Cox said. “But they are saying that because they have not spent enough time with you. There is a lot that is wrong with America, but when I spend time with you, I am reminded of everything that is right with America.”
Col. David Smith, 419th FW commander, also took the time to address the Airmen.
“Tonight is all about our Airmen and honoring your hard work and selfless service,” Smith said.
