Base theater features “The Hunting Ground”
The Hill AFB Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office will host a complimentary showing of the highly acclaimed and controversial film, “The Hunting Ground,” recently shown at the Sundance Film Festival. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the base theater. The film is an expose of rape crimes on U.S. college campuses, their institutional cover-ups, and the devastating toll they take on students and their families. The showing is for general public awareness purposes only and is not considered part of SAPR annual training requirements. Team Hill is invited to attend. Chief’s golf tourney registration under way
Registration is under way for the 18th Annual Hill Chiefs’ Group Golf Tournament planned Aug. 21 at the Hubbard Golf Course.
Proceeds from the tourney go to support various Hill organizations and events, including Operation Warm Heart, the Airman Leadership School and various quarterly and annual award recognition programs.
Cost for the tourney is $60 per person; Hubbard Golf Course punch will be accepted (two punches, plus $40). Entry fee includes greens fee, golf cart, lunch and prizes. Format for the event is four-person select shot (scramble).

Veterans Recognition Celebration set
A Veterans Recognition Celebration will be held Aug. 22 at the Morgan County Airport, on Willow Creek Road in Mountain Green.
Events will include a remote control demo at 8 a.m.; an opening ceremony with a Stearman flyby at 10 a.m.; Charlie Precourt, NASA astronaut, will speak at 10:30 a.m.; a barbecue lunch with live country music featuring The Nelson Brothers at 11 a.m.; and helicopter water drops and free aircraft rides beginning at noon.
Military aircraft and vehicles will be on display. Fly-in aircraft are welcome.

Military Appreciation Pool Party
A military appreciation pool party will be held from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Roy Aquatic Center located at 2977 W. 5200 South in Roy. Active duty, Reserve and National Guard members and their immediate families are invited for free swimming, food, homemade desserts and drinks. A number of door prizes donated by local businesses will also be available. A valid military-issued ID is required for entrance.
The event is sponsored by Roy Christian Church and is held annually to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by military members and their families.

Travis Brass plays for free in Ogden
The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West, presents a free concert in Ogden by the Travis Brass. This family-friendly event will take place at the Ogden Amphitheater, 342 25th Street, at 6 p.m. Aug 30. This concert is open to the public.

Travis Brass is part of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West from Travis Air Force Base, California. With two trumpets, a French horn, trombone and tuba, the ensemble supports a wide variety of musical events ranging from military ceremonies, patriotic shows, educational programs and recitals of original works for brass quintet.
Commander’s Cup slated for Sept. 8
A golf tournament to support the Hill Aerospace Museum will be held Sept. 8 at the base’s Hubbard Memorial Golf Course.
Cost is $150 per golfer, which includes entry fee, cart, food and prizes. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by an 11:15 a.m. golf clinic. The tournament begins at noon and culminates with an award dinner at the golf course club house.

Team Hill spouses will host their annual Team Hill Roundup on Sept. 12 at HUB801 in Riverdale.
The Western-themed event includes a silent and live auction, which raises thousands of dollars for Hill AFB Airmen and families.

Hill AFB Air Force Ball
Hill Air Force Base’s Air Force Ball will be held Sept. 19 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center located at 2415 Washington Blvd. in Ogden. The social hour will begin at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and program at 6 p.m.
There will be music and dancing following the program. The attire for the event is mess dress or semi-formal for military and formal/black tie or business attire for civilians.
Menu options include Chicken Almondine, Top Sirloin Steak, or Roasted Vegetable Lasagna.
