Hill museum closed for maintenance

The Hill Aerospace Museum will close March 16-18 for the installation of new flooring. The museum is scheduled to reopen March 19. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and admission is free. 

Financial class offered next week

A financial workshop is from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. on March 17 at the Health & Wellness Center. The workshop will provide information on financial preparation for retirement and overall financial security and will focus on the variety of annuities. This workshop is a familiarization and training presentation. All financial decisions are the sole responsibility and intention of the individual. Base Tax Center open through tax day

The base tax center is open through April 15. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The center is located in the Poe Conference Center located in Building 1295. This is a free, walk-in service for active-duty, Reserve/Guard on Title 10 orders, dependents, and retirees.  If you have questions, call 801-777-1040.

Learn to garden with Tim Foltz

Have you wanted to start a garden, but haven’t known where to begin? Come hear and learn from expert gardener Tim Foltz. 

The class is on March 18 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Health and Wellness Center. Foltz will be talking about starting seeds indoors, the proper layout of a garden, when it is best to plant, how to deal with and protect your garden from insects, as well as answering any questions.

649th MUNS limits support in April

The 649th Munitions Squadron will be conducting a 100 percent inventory of its depot stockpile April 1-30. All depot customers requiring munitions support during this timeframe must deliver the applicable documentation to the custody accounts section no later than March 17. 

During the inventory, the only transactions that will be supported are emergency requests approved in writing by a group commander or equivalent. For more information, call Staff Sgt. Women’s history lunch coming up

A Women’s History Month Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 24 at The Landing. 

The guest speaker is Ensign Thomasania Montgomery- Leydsman, the first African-American woman commissioned from the Coast Guard’s Officer Candidate School. The theme for the event is “Weaving the Stories of Women’s Lives.” 

The menu is chef salad or club sandwich. Cost is $14 for non-club members and $12 for club members.

Hill AFB legal office closed until March 20

The Hill AFB legal office will be closed March 18-20 for an official function. For emergencies, contact the Command Post, which can connect you with the on-call judge advocate.

Hero2Hired Job Fair set for March 24

The Hero2Hired Job Fair is scheduled for March 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State Street, Sandy. The fair is for veterans, active-duty military members, Guard and Reserve service members and military spouses. This event is free for both employers and job seekers. Free parking is available.

Additionally, a Job Fair Preparation Workshop will be conducted at the Utah National Guard Headquarters, 12953 S. Minuteman Drive, Draper, on March 18. Call 801-432-4242 for workshop information.

AF officials seek award nominees

Air Force officials are accepting nominations for the 2015 Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs Grateful Nation Award. The award is presented annually to six service members who distinguish themselves through superior conduct in the war on terrorism.

Air Force enlisted nominees must be senior master sergeants or below, and officer nominees must be captains or below. Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their major command, field operating agency or direct reporting unit for applicable suspense dates and nomination procedures. Each MAJCOM, COCOM, FOA and DRU may nominate one person. 

Nomination packages are due to the Air Force Personnel Center by May 28.
