DSD Career Day

Airmen are invited to a Developmental Special Duty (DSD) Career Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Hill AFB Airman Recreation Center. Representatives from each special duty will be there to educate Airmen on their careers. The First Four will provide pizza and drinks for a small fee.

Hero2Hired Job Fair set for March 24

SANDY — The Hero2Hired Job Fair, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State Street, Sandy, is for veterans, active-duty military members, Guard and Reserve service members and military spouses. This event is free for both employers and job seekers. Free parking is also available.

Additionally, a Job Fair Preparation Workshop will be conducted at the Utah National Guard Headquarters, 12953 S Minuteman Drive, Draper, on March 18. Call 801-432-4242 for workshop information.

FFWP accepting scholarship entries

The Friends of the Federal Women’s Program, or FFWP, is offering scholarships to all federally employed women on base and Pathway program students. 

The goal of the FFWP is to assist federally employed women in career advancements through education and self-improvement. The FFWP is in no way funded by the Federal Women’s Program or any government group, organization or entity. All applications must be typewritten, complete and signed. 

The college student recipient of the $500 FFWP scholarship and the vocational/technical school recipient of the $200 will be expected to attend the March 31, FFWP Lunch and Learn at the Base Chapel (Building 445) at 11 a.m.

Base tax center

The base tax center, located in the Poe Conference Center (Building 1295), will be open through April 17. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. This is a free, walk-in service for active-duty, Reserve and Guard members (on Title 10 orders), military family members and military retirees.

Team Hill Ski Day at Snowbasin

A Team Hill Ski Day will be held at Snowbasin on Feb. 13. 

Stop by Outdoor Recreation to purchase ticket reservations for $56 per ticket. Ticket reservations are available for purchase now through 4 p.m. Feb. 12. Tickets will be issued at Earl’s Lodge starting at 8 a.m. Feb. 13. 

A number of ski packages that include skis, boots and poles are also available. Costs vary and supplies are limited, so reserve early.

Team Hill Ski Day brings closures

The following services will be closed Feb. 13 in conjunction with Team Hill Ski Day: Military Personnel Section closures include the following sections: customer support, ID cards (CAC and dependent), force management and career development. For emergency assistance, call 801-777-6783.

Finance closure; The 75th Comptroller Squadron will be closed. In case of an emergency, please contact (801) 634-4851.

The Hill AFB Office of the Staff Judge Advocate will be closed. For emergencies, please contact the Command Post, which can connect you with our on-call judge advocate.

Crews inventory munitions stockpile

The 649th MUNS will be conducting 100 percent inventories of the Base, Test, and STAMP stockpiles from March 2-15. All Base, Test, and STAMP customers requiring munitions support during this timeframe must deliver the applicable documentation to the Custody Accounts section no later than Feb. 17.

WSU basketball tickets available

Weber State University is hosting a Hill AFB appreciation basketball game at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. WSU will tip off against Idaho State.

Lane restriction

There will be a one-lane road closure on Wardleigh Road near Building 37 from Feb 13 to 16 for utility upgrade. The closure will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily to allow flow of traffic during peak hours.

AF wants enlisted nurse applicants

AF officials seek award nominees

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas — Air Force officials are accepting nominations for the 2015 Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs Grateful Nation Award. The award is presented annually to six service members who distinguish themselves through superior conduct in the war on terrorism.

Air Force enlisted nominees must be senior master sergeants or below, and officer nominees must be captains or below. Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their major command, field operating agency or direct reporting unit for applicable suspense dates and nomination procedures. Each MAJCOM, COCOM, FOA and DRU may nominate one person. 

Nomination packages are due to the Air Force Personnel Center by May 28.

Smoking cessation classes offered

Give Parents a Break

Give Parents a Break is a free child care service offered to active duty families that have a family member deployed. The next session is Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A referral from the Airman and Family Readiness Center is required along with hourly-care documents. The Child Development Center cares for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age, and the Youth Center cares for children Kindergarten to 12 years of age.

If space is available, GPAB will accommodate individuals without a referral. The fee without a referral is $15 and completed hourly care documents. This program rotates monthly between daytime hours 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and evening hours 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. 

Gen. Henry H. Arnold Education Grant

Concerned about the soaring cost of higher education for your children? Maybe the Air Force Aid Society can help. The General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program is an AFAS program that has $2,000 awards available for selected applicants. Applications are available now through March 13.

The program is open to dependent children of active-duty or retired military members, Title 10 AGR/Reservists on extended active duty, Title 32 AGR performing full-time active duty, retired reservists with 20-plus qualifying years of service, and of deceased Air Force members. Spouses of active-duty and Title 10 AGR/Reservists on extended active duty, as well as surviving spouses of deceased members, are also eligible candidates.
