AAPI Festival

An Asian American Pacific Islander Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 at the softball park next to the Warrior Fitness Center. The menu will include Hawaiian and Filipino foods, and entertainment will occur throughout the event. Tickets are $12 a plate or $30 for 3 plates. For tickets and more information, contact 2nd Lt. Wheels of Wonder

Team Hill families are invited to Wheels of Wonder from 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 17 at the parking lot near The Landing. Climb on and admire an assortment of military and commercial cars, trucks, motorcycles and heavy equipment vehicles. Giveaways, prizes, drawings, and a “burger burn” will also be available. Paddling safety

Become a safe paddler by learning skills, about the equipment and possible dangers associated with paddle boarding. Sign up for one of two classes held from 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m. May 17 at Outdoor Recreation. Call 801-777-9666 for details.

Leadership symposium

The Salt Lake Valley Fire Chiefs Alliance is hosting a leadership symposium featuring Andy Stumpf, retired Navy SEAL, May 18 at Union Middle School, 615 East 800 South in Sandy. The main event is from 9 a.m.-noon followed by a workshop from 1-4 p.m. This is a free event for military, police and first responders with valid ID. The symposium will cover leadership, teamwork, decision making, discipline, mental toughness and resiliency. Register at ufra.info/alliance.

Kid’s glow run

Join the Youth Center for a 5K glow run at 8 p.m. May 18. The run begins at the Youth Center and winds through the housing area. Participants will also decorate shirts, wear glow sticks, and participate in other glow-themed activities. Register by calling the Youth Center 801-777-2419.

Jackpot bingo

Play jackpot bingo from 1-6 p.m. May 19 at The Landing. More than $4,000 in cash payouts will be available. Card sales begin at 1 p.m. and the regular games begin at 2 p.m. Call 801-777-3841 for details.

Financial Workshop – Home Buying

Discover ways to possibly save thousands when buying a home during a workshop from 5:30-6:30 p.m. May 21 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The free class is available to all military, retirees, and their families. Call 801-777-4681 to register and for details.

Alpha Warrior Battle Rig competition

Participate in the Alpha Warrior Battle Rig competition from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 22 at the Hess Fitness Center . The top three male and female qualifiers will represent Hill Air Force Base at the regional competition. The competition is open to active-duty, guard and reserve military. Youth Mental Health First Aid

A free 8-hour course to teach adults how to recognize the signs of mental health problems in youth and the skills to effectively respond will be held from 8 a.m. to noon May 22 and 23 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Participants will learn skills to help youth in everyday situations and in crisis situations, including helping a young person who is thinking about suicide. Memorial Day Run to Remember

A Memorial Day Run to Remember will be held at 9 a.m. May 27 at the Hill Air Force Base Youth Center. The two-mile observance run will loop through Boyer Hill Military Housing and is free to anyone with base access. The event will serve to remember those who have died in military service. Operation Warmheart Golf Tourney

A golf tournament to benefit Operation Warmheart will be held May 31 at Hubbard Memorial Golf Course. Registration will occur at 7 a.m. and a four-person scramble, shotgun start will begin at 8 a.m. Cost is $65 per person or $240 per team. Fees cover lunch, greens fee and cart. Fundraisers on Hill AFB

Any private organization, unofficial activity, or individual wishing to raise funds on Hill AFB is required to coordinate their fundraiser through the 75th Force Support Squadron NAF Accounting Office.
