419th FW Employer Day
The 419th Fighter Wing will host civilian employers of Reserve personnel during Employer Day May 4. Employer Day serves to thank employers for their support, provide information on the Air Force Reserve, and offer a glimpse into reservists’ role in national defense. The event will feature tours of various mission areas within the wing, including an up-close look at the Air Force’s newest fighter jet, the F-35 Lightning II. LPDP open to lieutenants
The Company Grade Officers Council will host a Lieutenant Professional Development Program, or LPDP, April 22-25 at the Hill AFB Clinic education and training room, building 570. The purpose of the LPDP is to prepare junior officers to successfully meet the challenges of their Air Force careers and to bridge the professional development gap between their respective commissioning sources and Squadron Officer School. Hill Tax Center open
The Hill Air Force Base Tax Center, located at building 349, room 101, is open until tax day, April 15. Hours of operation will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free tax-return preparation and e-filing will be available to all active-duty and retired service members and family members with incomes of $54,000 or less. SAAPM breakfast
April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) office will host a breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. April 16 at the Hill Aerospace Museum. The theme for this year’s event is Protecting our People Protects our Mission. The guest speaker will be Thomas R. Tremblay, retired chief of police for Burlington, Vermont, a passionate leader for the prevent of domestic and sexual violence. Event registration is required and seating is limited. Boots to Business
A free Boots to Business class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 17-18 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The curriculum provides assistance to those interested in exploring business ownership or other self-employment opportunities by leading participants through the key steps for evaluating business concepts and providing foundational knowledge required to develop a business plan. Commissary events in April
April is the Month of the Military Child and the Hill AFB Commissary is offering children ages 8-14 a chance to win a $100 shopping spree. Customers can complete a registration form at the store’s customer return window and winners will be announced April 19. AFAF campaign underway
The Air Force Assistance Fund runs through April 26. The AFAF is affiliated with four charitable organizations: The Air Force Aid Society supports Airmen and families with emergency monetary relief; the Lemay Foundation assists widows of officer and enlisted Air Force retirees; the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation provides care for retired officers and their spouses; and the Air Force Enlisted Village provides care and living space for surviving spouses of retired enlisted Air Force members. Sound the Alarm event
Red Cross will team up with fire departments, volunteers, and community partners from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at Ben Lomond High School, 1080 9th Street in Ogden, for a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event. The 649th Munitions Squadron is conducting a 100 percent inventory of the depot (FV2172) stockpile through April 30. The Hill AFB Legacy Chapel is hosting a free two-part introductory seminar for military families from 7-8:30 p.m. May 7 and May 14 at the Layton Family Search Center, 915 West Gordon Ave. All computers will be provided, along with expert instruction on how to tap into the world’s largest genealogy data bases to uncover your roots.
