Before you leave… take 10 minutes to do this!

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Than you to those of you who have chosen to donate this year to the Combined Federal Campaign. As of Dec. 7, we have raised more than $91,000 across Hill.

This is great! Let’s keep building. This is why I am inviting you to spend 10 minutes to make a donation to the CFC by going to https://opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC and making a donation to a cause you believe in, before you leave for the holidays to be with family and friends.

You can make a difference.

Just go to the website https://opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC, pick a charity, and show your support.

If everyone at Hill gave $1 per pay period ($26 annually) we would exceed our goal by about $100,000. This can happen in 10 minutes.

If everyone at Hill gave $2 per pay period to a CFC charity, we would raise more money for charity than any other year.

Here’s one example of how you are making an impact with your donations:

Staff Sgt. Jose Pila returned from tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and suffered from PTSD, TBI, and physical injuries.

Since his return, Pila has dedicated his time to helping other service members through a veteran’s employment committee and as an academic counselor for veterans at a community college.

He came to a CFC-supported service animal organization plagued by nightmares, high anxiety, and hyper-vigilance. Daily noises would jolt his mind back to his time in Iraq. He desperately needed a buddy to help him stay calm and relaxed in large crowds and help watch his back.

A dog with a knack for recognizing the emotional needs of his human counterpart was selected and trained specifically for Pila.

Pila named him Ranger since he had been an Army Ranger himself. Ranger is instrumental in reducing Pila’s anxiety in crowds, sleeps in bed with him to eliminate nightmares and even ‘clears a room’ for his new dad. They spend every moment together. Even at work, Ranger rests peacefully at Pila’s feet.

I invite you to share with me the positive ways how the CFC has impacted your life. Thank you for all that you have done and contributed.

Military and federal civilian employees can donate to the CFC before Jan 11. Contractors can also make “one-time” donations by going to https://opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC and making a contribution.
