Strong beginning for Team Hill’s ‘Feds Feed Families Food Drive’

Feds Feed Families Food Drive is in full swing at Hill Air Force Base! If you’re looking for an opportunity to give back to the off-base community for the first-class support they provide to Hill, then you’ve found it.

The Commissary and Hill AFB Airmen are partnering to provide best-in-Air-Force support by gathering donations base-wide and delivering them to the local food pantry, which is the Family Connection Center on State Road 193 in Layton.

Thanks to generous donations by commissary patrons, the effort is well underway with more than 3,000 pounds having already been received, and the drive is just getting started.

Airmen from across the base are volunteering on Fridays at the Commissary to take donations.

If you aren’t a Friday grocery shopper, no problem. The commissary keeps prebuilt donation bags near the checkout counters with donation items that can be purchased and immediately donated any day of the week. Additionally, there are donation boxes distributed at organizations throughout the base where items can be dropped off.

The Layton Family Connection Center’s mission is to help eradicate poverty and abuse in our community by providing support services that bring positive change to individuals and families in Davis and Morgan counties.

The center provides crisis and respite child care, homelessness prevention, food assistance, parent education, therapy programs and much more as Davis and Morgan counties’ local family support center.

As with many charitable organizations, the Layton Family Connection Center experiences a peak in donations around Christmas, and donations drop significantly in the summer months. This food drive is critical in helping sustain services throughout the summer and into fall.

In the Hill AFB tradition of excellence, our goal is to have the highest amount of donations in the Air Force. The Feds Feed Families Food Drive is planned to end in October, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity to give back to the off-base community and continue to show the local community the true meaning of Service Before Self.
