ART hiring fair

The Air Force Reserve and the 419th Fighter Wing are holding a hiring fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center, 2415 Washington Blvd. in Ogden. The wing is looking to fill 117 maintenance positions for the Air Force’s newest fighter aircraft, the F-35 Lightning II. Qualified candidates will serve in Air Reserve Technician (ART) positions, and must be eligible for military service. ARTs work in a civilian capacity during the week and as part-time reservists at least one weekend per month and two weeks per year. The hiring process for these positionswill be fast-tracked, so qualified candidates may receive final or tentative job offers the same day.

CAF Museum reopens

The Utah Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Museum will reopen for the 2019 season May 4. The museum will be open May through October from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, or by appointment. The museum is located at the Heber City airport. The CAF is a non-profit all volunteer organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and demonstration aircraft that dominated the skies during World War II. Discover your family history

The Hill AFB Legacy Chapel is hosting a free two-part introductory seminar for military families from 7-8:30 p.m. May 7 and May 14 at the Layton Family Search Center, 915 West Gordon Ave. All computers will be provided, along with expert instruction on how to tap into the world’s largest genealogy data bases to uncover your roots. Establish a family search account at familysearch.org. Register no later than May 3 by calling the chapel at 801-777-2106.

Police Week Softball Tournament

The 75 th Security Forces Defenders Association will host a softball tournament from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 11 and continuing from 8 a.m. to noon May 12. Entry fee is $10 per person with a minimum of 10 people per team. Allergies and asthma education

Spring is in full swing and it is important to educate yourself on the difference between asthma and allergy symptoms in order to make sure you are seeking the proper treatment. Join Civilian Health Promotion Services to learn the difference and treatment options. Attend one of two classes from 11-11:30 a.m. May 14 at building 1227 in the south conference room or 1-1:30 p.m. May 15 at building 1515 in the executive conference room. Leadership symposium

The Salt Lake Valley Fire Chiefs Alliance is hosting a leadership symposium featuring Andy Stumpf, retired Navy SEAL, May 18 at Union Middle School, 615 East 800 South in Sandy. The main event is from 9 a.m.-noon followed by a workshop from 1-4 p.m. This is a free event for military, police and first responders with valid ID. The symposium will cover leadership, teamwork, decision making, discipline, mental toughness and resiliency. Register at ufra.info/alliance.

Memorial Day Run to Remember

A Memorial Day Run to Remember will be held at 9 a.m. May 27 at the Hill Air Force Base Youth Center. The two-mile observance run will loop through Boyer Hill Military Housing and is free to anyone with base access. The event will serve to remember those who have died in military service. Operation Warmheart Golf Tourney

A golf tournament to benefit Operation Warmheart will be held May 31 at Hubbard Memorial Golf Course. Registration will occur at 7 a.m. and a four-person scramble, shotgun start will begin at 8 a.m. Cost is $65 for eligible DOD ID card holders and $75 for guests. Fees cover lunch, greens fee and cart. Mulligan packages are available. For more information and to sign up, contact your unit’s first sergeant.

Freedom Fest 2019

Freedom Fest with performances by Thompson Square and Easton Corbin will be held from 4-8 p.m. June 28 at Hill Air Force Base’s Centennial Park. Food, games, inflatables, and circus art performers will also be available. The concert begins at 7 p.m. The event is open to DOD ID cardholders and guests.
