KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. — Life in the military comes with its own set of unique challenges, and overcoming those difficulties is something many Airmen and their families struggle with.
Thankfully, resources are easily available for Airmen and their families to aid in the developing resiliency, a key to mission success.
One resource is Military OneSource (www.militaryonesource.mil/), with services ranging from test preparation courses to tax filing software, all free of charge.
“Military OneSource is an extensive group of resources, services and programs for active duty, guard and reserve military members and their immediate family,” said Debra Roane, New Mexico Military OneSource state consultant. “We have a huge website that covers every aspect of military life.”
After a short sign-up, all the resources available on the website become accessible.
“One of our most recognizable programs is the non-medical counselling available through Military OneSource,” said Roane. “It is for those everyday life issues that we all face at some point, for things like relationship issues, marital problems, parenting issues, grief or loss. Individuals can get the counselling face-to-face, through the phone, live video or even through online secure chat.”
Another recognizable and popular resource is free tax filing.
“It is an online military-specific tax software,” she said. “It will automatically pick up on anything related to taxes in the military.”
Also available are tax consultants to help answer any questions an Airman or their family would have.
