With the holiday season fast approaching, Operation Warm Heart is working with the Hill Commissary and its vendors to ensure Airmen who may need a little extra help have a great Thanksgiving.
A team of volunteers recently worked to put together around 200 holiday baskets with all the food items needed for a nice Thanksgiving dinner. The baskets are being sold at cost at the commissary, and then donated to Airmen.
“We identify families that have a need for a little extra help for Thanksgiving and they receive bags,” said Master Sgt. Thomas Robertson, who is assisting in the effort.
Along with the baskets, commissary vendors provide a turkey, dinner rolls and potatoes, along with a gift card to purchase anything that might have been missed.
Operation Warm Heart is a longstanding Air Force first sergeants program aimed at helping Airmen.
