Utah ShakeOut

Personnel at Hill AFB will participate in a ShakeOut drill scheduled for 10:15 a.m. April 19. Exercise inspectors will be going from room to room to have personnel demonstrate what to do during an earthquake. When directed you should “drop, cover, and hold on” as if there were a major earthquake occurring at that very moment, and stay in the position for at least 60 seconds. The goal of the ShakeOut is to get Hill AFB prepared for major earthquakes by learning what to do before, during, and after an earthquake. Visit www.shakeout.org for more information.

Month of the Military Child Town Hall

The Hill Spouses’ Club will host a town hall at 7 p.m. April 20 at the Hill AFB Chapel. Brittany Boccher, 2017 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year, will speak on ways spouses and military familes can make their community stronger. The Hill Spouses’ Club will also discuss its efforts to bring an all-abilities playground to Hill AFB. The event is free. Refreshments will be provided. Spouse Newcomers Information Fair

A newcomer’s fair for spouses will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. April 25 at The Landing. Attendees will learn about benefits, jobs, education and much more. Meet new spouses, sample delicious menu items and check out all the different vendors. Win prizes such as movie tickets, gift cards, and free meals. Children are welcome. Prescription drug “Take Back Day”

Turn in your unused or expired prescription medication for safe disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 28 at the Hill AFB Commissary or Base Exchange. Other collections sites will be available in the local community. Visit www.dea.gov or call 800-882-9539 for details.

AFAF campaign

The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign is underway at Hill AFB until May 4. The Hill AFB goal is to raise $63,338 and donations will directly benefit Air Force Airmen, their families and retirees. Spouses & Scholars Spring Market

A Spouses & Scholars Spring Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 at building 430 located at 7437 6th Street. This is a base-wide yard sale and vendor event.

Funds raised will support the Hill Spouses’ Club scholarship fund. Table rentals are $20 for yard sale participants and $30 for vendors. Hill Spouses’ Club members get a $10 discount. Table setup will begin at 8 a.m. Email bazaarsdirector@gmail.com for details.

Report suspicious activity

Air Force Security Forces are committed to the security of Hill AFB, but security is everyone’s business. If you see or hear something suspicious, report it. The Air Force has long had a program called “Eagle Eyes” that enlists the eyes and ears of Air Force members and the public. Report suspicious activity to the Eagle Eyes hotline at 801-777-3056.
