The Operation Warm Heart 5K will be held Sept. 15 at 7:30 a.m. The event begins across from the Warrior Fitness Center. Pre-registration ended Sept. 12. Participants can still register the day of the 5K (there will be no guarantee of a t-shirt, though). Military, civilians and families are welcome to participate. Hill appreciation event Sept. 16

The Davis Arts Council welcomes Hill AFB to their “Summer Night with the Stars” Sept. 16 at the Ed Kenley Amphitheater in Layton. Performing will be the group Hotel California, a tribute act saluting the music of The Eagles. Team Hill military, civilian, and contractors can call the Davis Arts Council at 801-546-8575 and with proof of ID get 2 tickets for the price of 1. Or they can drop by at 445 Wasatch Drive, Layton, Monday-Friday between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and get the same deal.

Air Force Ball held Sept. 23

The Air Force Ball will be held Sept. 23 at the Eccles Center in Ogden; social hour begins at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. The event is open to all DOD employees, military members, retirees, and their guests. Veterinary facility notice of closure

The Hill AFB Veterinary Treatment Facility will be closed due to staffing Sept. 25-Oct. 6 and will reopen Oct. 9. For prescriptions, please call in and pick up refills prior to Sept. 25. As a reminder, the Hill AFB Veterinary Treatment Facility is open Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Pets can be registered on Mondays and Wednesdays and appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The facility is closed Fridays, all federal holidays, and the last business day of every month for inventory. For questions, please call 901-777-2611.

Immunization clinic closure notice

The 75th Medical Group Immunizations Clinic will be closed daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please note that the last sign-in for morning services will be at 11 a.m. In addition, the immunizations clinic closes every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. for smallpox vaccinations administration. Please contact the immunizations clinic at 801-777-5209 if you have questions or concerns.

Bodybuilding competition

The 2017 NGA Natural Northern States Pro Qualifier is scheduled for Sept. 30 at the Perry Egyptian Theater in Ogden. Prejudge is at 9 a.m. and the night show is at 6 p.m. For tickets and information contact James or Bianca Purtell at 801-499-3633.

ALS civilian school Nov. 8-Dec. 14

Are you interested in learning how to be an effective supervisor and leader in your work center? All eligible Team Hill civilian employees are now able to attend the Hill Airman Leadership School (ALS). This enlisted professional military education course is a voluntary opportunity to broaden knowledge of the military profession while learning leadership skills and how to lead and manage teams. The knowledge gained through this course not only will provide a background on how to supervise military but it also enhances skills for supervising civilian employees. All completed nomination packages are due to the ALS org box 75FSS.FSDA@us.af.mil by Sept. 27 with interviews the week of Oct. 2. Events to benefit veterans

The 10th Annual George E. Wahlen Veterans Tribute Run and Chili Cook-off will be held Saturday, Oct. 14. There will be 5K and 10K runs and a 1-mile walk followed by a chili cook-off. Proceeds will be donated to the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden. The event begins at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home (1102 N. 1200 W., Ogden) at 10 a.m. and ends at the First United Methodist Church (1339 W. 400 N. in Marriott-Slaterville). Men’s Conference Men of Vision Utah will host a one-day conference event for men on Sept. 30 at Abundant Life Church, 410 North Main Street, North Salt Lake.
