Airmen give Moroccans gift of healthy smiles

TATA, Morocco — Maj. Jeremiah Lindgren conducts a dental exam on a woman from a remote village in Morocco during an annual tour deployment in support of an exercise known as African Lion.

Five dental experts from the 419th Fighter Wing took time away from their civilian jobs to join about 60 members of the Utah and Colorado Air National Guard on the humanitarian mission near Tata, Morocco, April 16-29.

Lindgren works full time as a dentist in Northern Utah and serves part time in the Air Force Reserve.

Annual tours are part of a Citizen Airman’s requirement to complete two weeks of intensive training each year, along with one weekend a month, to ensure they’re ready for deployment.

African Lion is an annual exercise that helps to improve joint operations and mutual understanding among African partner nations.
