AAFES early closures
Annual retail inventories for AAFES facilities on base will result in early closing times. West Gate Express will close Jan. 23, at 2 p.m.; Hill Express and Hill Military Clothing Sales will close Jan. 23, at 5 p.m.; and the Main Exchange will close Jan. 25, at 1 p.m.
Combating Trafficking in Persons Breakfast
A Combating Trafficking in Persons Breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 26 at the Hill AFB Chapel. Timothy Ballard, a former CIA employee and founder of Operation Underground Railroad, will be the guest speaker. The event will discuss human trafficking and what people can do about it. Hill AFB appreciation basketball game
The Weber State University men’s basketball team will play Northern Arizona University Feb. 4, 7 p.m., at the Dee Event Center. With proof of a government-issued ID, four free tickets for the game can be picked up at the Dee Event Center ticket office in Ogden from now until game day.
Team Hill Ski Day
The Team Hill Ski Day will be held at Powder Mountain, March 31. Free day passes will be available for all active-duty military and veterans. Spouses, immediate family and civilians with a base ID will receive a 50-percent discount on day passes. Ski and snowboard rentals will be available from Outdoor Recreation for $20.
Hill Tax Center opens
The base tax center will be open Jan. 23 to April 18 in building 152 (located at 5837 D Avenue). Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mon.-Fri. Tax return preparation is a free service for active duty, reservists on orders, dependents, and military retirees.
Tax preparation will be open to E-4 and below only from Jan. 25-29. Appointments are not required. Thereafter, Mon.-Thu. will be by appointment only. Walk-ins will be welcome on Fri. for non-complicated returns.
People interested in preparing their own taxes can visit myfreetaxes.com, IRS.gov or militaryonesource.mil. It is free if you make less than $64,000; otherwise, there is a small fee.
