Hill welcomes home Airmen from 388th and 419th Fighter Wings

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Cold weather couldn’t dampen warm hearts Friday as family and friends gathered on the Hill Air Force Base flight line to welcome home Airmen from the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings.

The Airmen were deployed to Afghanistan for six months in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, carrying out the F-16 mission. The pilots, maintenance, and operations support personnel are assigned to the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group. The total force group was made up of active-duty and reserve Airmen.

Operation Freedom’s Sentinel aims to maintain security and stability in the area following Operation Enduring Freedom, which officially concluded in 2014.
