Q: I use mass transit to and from the base. Due to the extra traffic, because of the closure of the Southwest Gate and the poor design of the traffic lights at the interstate intersection just off base, I am now missing the train 50 percent of the time. Utah Transit Authority has already adjusted their schedule, but it’s not enough.
A: I am sorry that you have been experiencing trouble with your commute and are missing your train connection. We have consulted with the Utah Department of Transportation and they have made some minor adjustments to light sequencing. Additionally, UTA is continually looking at alternate exit routes to ensure customers are meeting their train schedule. Unfortunately, due to the excessive traffic exiting this installation, it may not be possible to guarantee a timely schedule. I understand the importance of maintaining this program for Hill AFB employees. We will continue to work with UDOT and UTA to see if we can optimize bus schedules and routes.
