The Air Force Sustainment Center has a new website, afscciviliancareers.com, aimed at easing the process of recruiting and filling positions using direct and expedited hiring authority.
“The AFSC wanted to develop a site that was a repository for collecting resumes from applicants to fill positions covered by DHA/EHA,” AFSC Director of Personnel Dana Crowe said. “We wanted a process that was seamless, user-friendly and transparent to our applicants.”
Directorate of Personnel Branch Chief, Sarah Walker, collaborated with the Hill Air Force Base Transformation Team in order to bring the website that specifically hires for positions within the AFSC to life. Unlike USAJobs, the positions posted to the AFSC website are under Direct Hiring Authority and Expedited Hiring Authority.
“The site allows us to hire under these authorities but also ensures we’re collecting an array of diverse candidates,” Walker said. “The website is built on a dot com address and is publicly accessible. External candidates and internal candidates can access it whether they’re on the base network or off and also ensures we’re reaching other federal candidates.”
The home page of the website provides applicants with information regarding Direct and Expedited Hiring Authorities and various career opportunities available within the AFSC.
In addition, the website contains a geographic map of various AFB locations where AFSC is looking to fill vacancies. It also includes information for veterans, people with disabilities, military spouses and recruiting events. Candidates may tailor their settings to see what jobs are available to them based on location and qualifications.
“It’s rather intuitive, easy to navigate, and allows AFSC to cast a wide net to fill our critical vacancies,” Crowe said.
Positions not covered by DHA/EHA will continue to be posted to USAJobs.gov. You can visit the AFSC’s new hiring website at afscciviliancareers.com.
