Independence Day: Commander’s message to Airmen

Independence Day: Commander’s message to Airmen

Team Hill,

Many of us traditionally celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, parades, barbecues, fairs, picnics, and concerts. Let us pause this July 4th and consider life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Two-hundred forty-three years ago, the Declaration of Independence established a new republic, built upon a foundation of unalienable rights. As a result, the foundation of the American way of life was established.

Independence Day offers us a time to reflect on a few of the ever-present principles of the American way of life: patriotism, love of country, and a willingness to sacrifice for the sake of freedom. The liberties that we possess as Americans have been protected and guaranteed by soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who’ve served every generation since our nation’s birth.

I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated men and women across Team Hill for your service and the phenomenal work you do each and every day. I’m thankful for and humbled by the sacrifices each of our Airmen and their families make to do our part in continuing the legacy of our nation’s opportunities, freedoms, and values. I respectfully ask that we continue to keep our deployed personnel and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

As we move into one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, please plan ahead, stay alert, and allow yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. Enjoy your time with family and friends and return safely. I wish each of you a Happy Independence Day. Thank you for your commitment to Team Hill, our Air Force, and nation. It’s an honor to serve with you.
