Workforce Recruitment Program candidates available

Are you looking for top talent and fresh ideas to help your organization with a project this summer?

Do you have limited funding to hire the people you need? The Workforce Recruitment Program may be your answer.

The WRP is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through temporary summer or permanent jobs.

The program is co-sponsored by the Department of Defense and the Department of Labor and the internships are funded by DoD at no cost to the unit.

Trained WRP recruiters from federal agencies conduct interviews with interested candidates from accredited colleges and universities across the country.

Candidates represent all majors, and range from college freshmen to graduate students and law students.

Information from these candidate interviews is compiled in a searchable database that is available year-round to any hiring officials or HR specialists in federal agencies.

Register now as an employer at www.wrp.gov to review candidates and rank your top selections.

Internships begin as early as March and run through Sept. 30. Contact your local civilian personnel section no later than Marc 30 to secure your selections and initiate the pre-employment process.

There is not a commitment to convert the intern into permanent positions at the end of their internship on Sept. 30.

However, if the intern proves to perform successfully and there is an authorization available, the conversion can be made with no announcement or competition – saving months of time waiting for the competitive process to unfold.

Additionally, the intern will be fully equipped with on-the-job training and hands-on experience in your organization.

If an organization needs additional time to assess the performance of an individual, a two-year term appointment can be made in lieu of a permanent conversion.

Air Force Materiel Command takes pride in striving to be a model employer for individuals with disabilities and is committed to maximizing opportunities to strengthen their work experience while supporting the mission.
