MONTHLY MISSION PARTNER: Today’s Air Force recruiter

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — The Air Force would be rendered ineffective and useless without people. Therefore, Air Force recruiters are charged with bringing quality Airmen into the service to meet its ever-changing needs. Team Hill mission partners under the 372nd Recruiting Group are responsible for recruiting over a vast geographic area.

The 372nd RG is a tenant unit here and is comprised of 22 personnel who provide guidance on operations, finance, training, marketing, information technology and personnel management to 8 enlisted accessions squadrons and 1 health professions squadron, totaling more than 750 Airmen who are spread across 24 states and 4 Pacific Rim countries.

Additionally, the 368th Recruiting Squadron is also located on Hill AFB. The 81 professionals in this squadron conduct recruiting and Military Entrance Processing Station activities in an area of responsibility covering seven states.

Finally, the 348th Health Professions Squadron is located locally in Clearfield, Utah. The 70 professionals in this squadron cover the same area of responsibility as the 372nd RG. They conduct officer recruiting activities focused on all medical profession career fields.

No matter what type of recruiting squadron there is, the recruiter’s mission is to “Inspire, Engage & Recruit Future Airmen to Deliver Airpower for America.” These amazing Airmen change lives every day by informing, inspiring and assessing new applicants, prior service applicants, battlefield Airmen, rated, non-rated and health professions officers.

Recruiters come from all Air Force Specialty Codes and range in rank from staff sergeant through chief master sergeant. They have been selected by their leadership as high-performing Airmen and placed into this highly sought after Developmental Special Duty Program. In addition to the recruiters, these units have highly motivated and technically proficient computer support technicians and personnel specialists who provide support so recruiters can focus on the recruiting mission.

Recruiters are the face of the Air Force in our communities. They are ambassadors in blue, providing insight and information about all the Air Force has to offer to community leaders, business owners, school teachers, counselors, coaches, parents, potential applicants and many others. They are embedded and involved in our communities and make our communities better by their service as leaders and servants.

It’s important to understand that recruiters are not the only ones out there in local communities. Their families are out there as well. Even though each unit is tied to a host base, these recruiters and their families are geographically separated from these bases so the benefits that most military members and their families enjoy on an installation may not be readily available. Thus, they rely on each other and utilize programs such as Tricare remote.

Our recruiters are the backbone of the Air Force and are constantly adjusting to ensure they assess the right quality, quantity and specialty to meet career field and Air Force end-strength requirements.
