Hill Aerospace Museum ‘Plane Talk’ speakers for March 2017

ROY, Utah — The Hill Aerospace Museum at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, hosts a Plane Talk series featuring speakers related to heritage of Hill AFB, the United States Air Force, other military branches and many other subjects related to aerospace and the defense industry. Plane Talk takes place on Saturdays at 1 p.m. in the museum auditorium. Everyone is invited and admission is FREE!

March 18, 1 p.m.

Veto Montrone, U.S. Navy – USS Arkansas

Veto served in the United States Navy and was part of atomic bomb testing during Operation Crossroads. He worked on the USS Arkansas, which was the oldest battleship the Navy had at the time of his service. The USS Arkansas was used as a target ship during the Able and Baker test on the A-bomb. The USS Arkansas did not sink during test Able, but test Baker sunk it as well as eight other ships being used for testing.

Heather Boesch, U.S. Air Force – C-130 crew chief

Additional information on each speaker:

Heather served in the United States Air Force from 2003 to 2016. She began her career as an open mechanic and was selected to be a C-130 crew chief. Her first duty assignment was Isochronal. After a year of working there, Boesch was assigned to the Aero Repair shop where she spent her career until 2008. During her time in the AR shop, she deployed three times.

Following her time in AR, Heather elected to retrain to be a C-130 flight engineer. She deployed one more time before ending her active-duty career.

Heather continued her career in the Air Force Reserve as a crew chief for the A-10 Warthog. In 2014, she elected to go into the Individual Ready Reserve, and then fully retired in March 2016. During her career, Boesch logged just under 1,000 flying hours, had 99 combat sorties and was awarded four Air Medals.
