Hill to observe Holocaust Remembrance Day

Team Hill’s annual observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day will be May 3 at 11 a.m. at the Hill Chapel.

The base welcomes a speaker who witnessed the actions taken in real time. Jerry Meetz was born in the Netherlands, to a Jewish father and a Christian mother. His father was taken to a concentration camp during his childhood. He has lived in Ogden for close to 60 years and will share his story.

One of the reasons that America continues to remember the Holocaust is that throughout history, hatred against a group of people has led to genocide. It is something that has followed us to modern times, whether happening in Africa or in the Middle East or Asian countries. There are communities that are in danger of their life due to the circumstances of their birth.

Team Hill remembers the Holocaust to help prevent it from happening again.
