Military Saves Week all about saving money

The Airman and Family Readiness Center hosts its annual Military Saves Week Feb. 22-26 to promote good savings behaviors and to provide service members and their families with the opportunity to assess their personal saving status.

The financial workshops are “targeted toward helping military members and their families ‘Set a Goal. Make a Plan. Save Automatically,’ which includes the importance of establishing a budget now and also preparing for their financial future,” said Samuel Child of the A&FRC.

Military Saves Week includes workshops on financial topics and is open to all active-duty military, retirees, Guardsmen, reservists and their families.

In addition to the workshops throughout the week, participants can join in on the weeklong Scavenger Hunt, which involves searching for “Savings Bucks” boxes at various locations around base. Once the participant reads the savings clue, he/she will provide contact information on the back of the card and drop it in the box. All entries will go toward a grand prize drawing for a $100 gift card.

Workshops will be in the A&FRC, Building 150, and a light lunch will be provided to those in attendance. Participants who are interested must RSVP at least three days prior to the workshop they would like to attend by calling 801-777-4681.
