Brig. Gen. Steven Bleymaier, director of staff at Air Force Materiel Command headquarters, has been assigned as the next commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex.
Brig. Gen. Carl Buhler, Ogden ALC commander since September 2014, has been selected for reassignment as Logistics Director, Air Combat Command headquarters, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.
The change of command ceremony will be Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m. in the Hill Aerospace Museum.
Bleymaier, who pinned on the rank of brigadier general earlier this month, has been responsible for integrating daily operations, management, resources, facilities and executive administrative activities that support the AFMC mission. He entered the Air Force in 1991 with a bachelor of science and commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has a diversified background in fighter and heavy aircraft and munitions maintenance, acquisitions logistics, legislative liaison and politico-military plans.
Bleymaier has commanded a wing, group and two squadrons, and served at the major command and Air Staff levels. He has served two tours in Europe and deployed to the Middle East three times. He is the author of “Servant Leadership: Effective Application for Air Force Leaders.” He and his wife, Wendy, have nine children.
At Langley, Buhler will provide logistics direction for more than 42,000 logistics personnel assigned to 30 ACC combat and logistics support units that maintain fighters, bombers and special mission aircraft and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles.
He received his commission in 1989 from the ROTC program at Valdosta State College, Georgia During his career, Buhler has deployed to the cease-fire phase of Operation Desert Storm, served as the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron “Thunderbirds” maintenance officer for the 1997 and 1998 seasons, served as Commander, 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Group, Southwest Asia, and as Commander, 78th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander, Robins AFB, Georgia.
Prior to his current position, he served as the Director of Logistics, Installations, and Mission Support, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Buhler was promoted to brigadier general in August 2013. He and his wife, Sharon, have two children.
