Briefing on health care, flu shots at Hill Clinic

Col. Donald Hickman, commander of the 75th Medical Group, invites any interested Hill Clinic beneficiary (active duty, retiree, dependent or civil service employee eligible for care at the Hill Clinic or Hill Occupational Medicine Clinic) to attend the 75th Medical Group's Healthcare Consumer Advisory Council meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 2:30 p.m. in the Hill Clinic, Building 570. Briefings are planned on the Influenza Immunization Program, referring active duty for off-base dental care, the Family Health Initiative, and Hill Clinic Facility update.

The meeting will also include a question and answer session with Hill Clinic senior leadership.

Power outage near Popeye's on Sunday

On Sunday, Sept. 27, work will begin at 6:30 a.m. to install knife blade switches, grounding and to correct deficiencies to correct a safety issue.

Buildings to be affected by power outage will induce the following:

Buildings 1210, , 890, 892, 894, 895, 896, 897, 881 and 875 and DRMO Area. (West area Shopette, Popeye's, MWR Sign and sprinklers by MWR sign).

High voltage pole north of Building 891 will be the focus of work.

Race Against Family Violence on Sept. 26

The fourth annual Community 5K Fun Run and Walk Against Family Violence will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at Layton City Commons Park with same day registration beginning at 8 a.m. The park location is 427 N. Wasatch Drive, but more specifically the race will begin south of the Layton City Municipal Complex.

Sponsored in part by the Davis County Domestic Violence Coalition, the race will generate proceeds for Davis County service providers working with domestic violence and their families.

Entry fees are $19.99 if pre-registered or $24.99 for same-day registration.

Persons with Disabilities Luncheon to give awards

The Persons With Disabilities Committee will host its annual luncheon Oct. 22 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Club Hill. The luncheon is held to award outstanding Department of Defense workers with disabilities and the guest speaker will be Kim Peek, a savant who inspired Dustin Hoffman's character in the movie "Rain Man." Touted as a walking encyclopedia, Peek's knowledge-only IQ equivalent is 184.

Financial Services new Customer Service hours

Effective Oct. 1, Financial Management Customer Service walk-in hours will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The reduced hours will allow the facility to incorporate an appointment-based system. This will allow customers to set a time to see a technician without waiting in line.

Anyone wishing to make an appointment instead of waiting in line may do so. The appointment system will help alleviate the longer lobby wait times that have occurred since the cutover to the Financial Service Center.

Beginning Oct. 1, members will be able to call and schedule an appointment for the next day.

Women's Business Conference in Ogden

The Ogden Weber Chamber Women are presenting the sixth annual Women's Business Conference, described as an event full of discovery, learning and empowerment.

The conference, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be in the Weber State University Union Building.

Employees from Hill Air Force Base will receive a conference rate of $50 with proof of identification. Other rates are as follows: $20 student rate; $20 lunch only.

Tickets for Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon

The Airman and Family Readiness Center will hosts the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon on Oct. 20 at the Club Hill Ballroom from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Guest speakers will be Amanda Gammon, a licensed genetics counselor, who will speak on the topic "Breast Cancer and Genetics, What It Means for Me," and Linda Hill, a cancer survivor, who will speak on the topic "If You Look for the Good, You Shall Surely Find It!"

Ticket costs are $10.30 for Club Hill members and $12.30 for nonmembers and include a lunch of "Healthy Heart" turkey and cheddar croissant sandwich with a pasta salad.

Roadwork on Foulois Road, Southgate Drive continues

On Saturday, Sept. 26, weather permitting, the 75th Civil Engineering Group will perform pavement repairs on Southgate Drive and Foulois Road, from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Some delays might be encountered entering and exiting the South Gate including access to Hubbard Golf Course.

The engineers ask for everyone's patience while they perform this much needed pavement work.

Bodybuilding pro qualifier Sept. 26 at Roy High

The Northern States Natural Bodybuilding and Figure Championships Pro Qualifier will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at Roy High School. It is Utah's premiere bodybuilding contest and attracts some of the best bodybuilders and figure competitors in the Western States region, including several military members from Hill Air Force Base.

Pre-sale tickets are available at Maxx Muscle in Layton and cost $8 for the prejudge show, which starts at 10 a.m., and $12 for the night show, which starts at 7 p.m. Cost for tickets the day of the event will be $10 for the prejudge show and $15 for the night show.

Fall /Holiday Craft bazaar vendors needed

Vendors are needed for the Hill Officers' Spouse's Club 2009 Fall/Holiday Craft Bazaar to be held Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Club Hill.

The booth fee is a direct donation to the Hill Officer's Spouse's Club welfare fund, which provides scholarships and educational material for the military community as well as donations to OSC designated charities. The booth fee for this one-day event is $40. Each vendor will receive a 6- or 8-foot table, depending on availability, along with two chairs. Set up will begin at 8 a.m. and must be completed by 10 a.m.

Vendors are responsible for their own table coverings or decorations and display needs (electrical hook-ups will be extremely limited). Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The OSC will be limiting the number of jewelry vendors to nine.

Outside food and beverages are not allowed in Club Hill. A buffet lunch will be available at an additional cost.
