Officers' Spouses' Club picnic today

A welcome picnic for the new year is being offered today by the Officers' Spouses' Club for members, prospective members and their families. The picnic will include hot dogs, hamburgers, side dishes, desserts and beverages. The picnic will be held at Centennial Park and will start at 6:30 p.m. No RSVP is required.

The social and charitable organization is composed of men and women who share common interests and who have a military lifestyle in common. The group offers such special activity groups as a babysitting co-op, book club, breakfast club, cooking club, girls' night out activities, golf club and more.

Power outage at Building 1210

On Saturday, Sept. 12, starting at 6:30 a.m., there will be a power outage to install high voltage jumpers for a new backfeed for approximately two hours affecting the following facilities:

Building 1210 (West area Shopette, Popeye's, MWR sign and sprinklers by MWR sign).

The work itself will be at a high voltage pole north of Buildingt 891.

Education fair in the park

The Education Office at Hill Air Force Base would like to invite Team Hill to an Education Fair to be held Sept. 17 at Centennial Park from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. More than 30 colleges and universities will be represented. For more information, contact the Education Office at 777-2710.

Registration for youth flag football

Registration for youth flag football will be ongoing through Sept. 18. The season will run from Oct. 5 until Nov. 18.

Cost is $25 for "Start Smart" ages 5-6, and $35 for ages 7-12. A current sports physical, a completed registration form and AF Form 88, available at the Youth Center, Bldg. 883, are required upon registration.

Male and female volunteer coaches are also needed for this program.

Spouses Round Up set for Oct. 2

The 388th Spouses Round Up annual fundraiser will be held at Club Hill on Oct. 2 starting at 6 p.m. The western-themed silent and live auction dinner event has been hosted at Hill Air Force Base the last eight years and it benefits on-base programs regarding quality of life issues for Airmen and Department of Defense civilians and their family members. All proceeds will be raised by a combination of corporate sponsorships, live auction/silent auction items, cash donations and ticket sales.

Tickets are $15 when purchased in advance and $17 at the door, and include a chuck wagon buffet. The event is open to all DoD ID cardholders. To request tickets, contact Rhiannon Lucero via e-mail at lucerorrj@aol.com or via telephone at (719) 201-7762 by Sept. 25.

Hill 'Givem-Hell' Combat Dining Out

Grab your Super Soaker, water ballons, guidons, face paint and get ready for the Team Hill "Givem-Hell" Combat Dining Out, Sept. 18 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the BORTA. Civilians are welcome and encouraged to attend. Uniform of the day will be ABU/BDU for military and hunting/outdoor wear for civilians. This event will celebrate the Air Force's 62nd anniversary. There will be a POW/MIA tribute and lots of groggin' — leaded and unleaded. Holy Smoke will be catering the meal, and there will be prizes given for best squadron centerpiece and best male/female camo paint job. Ticket prices are: Airman to senior Airman, $10; staff sergeant to technical sergeant, $15; master sergeant and above $20. Tickets may be purchased from your first sergeant.

Pavement project on New Jersey Road

The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron has a pavement construction project on New Jersey Road and Warrior Way which will require excavation and repair of asphalt. Starting sometime before Monday, Sept. 14, and continuing through Sept. 25, New Jersey Road and Warrior Way (2nd Street to Perimeter Road) will be closed. The project will not include the intersections of New Jersey Road and 2nd Street or Warrior Way and Perimeter Road. Recommended alternate route is Browning Street to Perimeter Street for through traffic (Quincy Lane is closed). Most buildings can be accessed from North Drive via Perimeter Street.

Piano lessons at Youth Center

Piano lessons are being offered through the Hill Air Force Base Youth Center with instructor Sandy Bryan who has taught piano for 31 years. She is a member of the Music Teacher's National Association and the Utah Music Teacher's Association. She is the Chairman for the Yamaha Clavinova Festival. he owns and operates a piano studio in West Haven and is excited to join the Youth Center staff to teach piano lessons at the HAFB Youth Center.

Class will include piano instruction, sight reading, ear training, composing, computer lab, theory, games, and a reward center.

Class time and ages: Classes will be formed according to age and piano experience for ages 5 years to 18 years old.

Classes will be Wednesdays or Fridays, 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m.; 6:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. -8:15 p.m. at the Youth Center Building 883 in the Music Room.

Fee will be $45 a month for one-hour weekly lessons, four times a month. There is an additional charge for sheet music. For more information, call the instructor at (801)529-2523

Women on the move at the fitness center

Monday, Sept. 14 through Nov. 7, this eight-week walking program will cost $10 per person and will be held Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to noon at the fitness center. 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the fitness center. Learn how to improve your overall health and wellness through exercise and nutritionand make new friends.
