HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Reservists in the 67th Aerial Port Squadron took home four trophies during the Port Dawg Challenge at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., April 25-27.

The challenge brought together 23 aerial port squadrons from across Air Force Reserve Command to compete in events designed to test their proficiency in “port dawg” tasks. Events included forklift driving courses, cargo processing, load planning, pallet building, a fitness challenge, and more. 

“To do well on the Port Dawg Challenge you have to be skilled in every aspect of our career field,” said Master Sgt. Cody De Los Reyes, team chief. “It brings you back to the basics of our procedures and regulations, and doing the job exactly how the Air Force wants you to do it.”

The 67th APS team placed in 6 out of 12 events, winning four: 10K forklift, joint inspection, passenger processing, and the fit-to-fight event.

De Los Reyes said his team excelled due to their high experience levels, including several deployments overseas where their skills were sharpened. 

“Without those deployments, we wouldn’t have done half as well as we did,” he said. “We really knew what we were doing out there. This is one of the best teams I’ve ever been on.”

Team members included De Los Reyes, Tech. Sgt. Redick Bickmore, Tech. Sgt. Charles Drinkwater, Tech. Sgt. Halley Schilk, Staff Sgt. Sierra Beers, and Senior Airman Todd Rimmasch.
