It's time to pack your bags, catch the last bit of summer on the beach, check out a Broadway show, sleep in until 10 a.m. at a bed and breakfast, and then hit the local slopes this winter.
Sound like too much work or even too much money? Luckily for Team Hill, the Information, Tickets, and Travel office is ready and willing to help everyone plan ahead for the end of this season and the next, plus hand out some great military discounts while they're at it.
ITT is the one-stop shop on base for tickets to local events, shows and attractions, plus they have an in-house leisure travel agent who books big trips such as honeymoons, cruises, and even just your plain old getaway.
This month, ITT has a plethora of fun things to do, including but not limited to:
>> Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Energy Solutions Arena; tickets are $15.25 for Thursday, Sept. 24 and $23.25 for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Sept. 25-27
>> Lagoon's Frightmares; tickets are $31.50
>> The Wedding Singer" Broadway show at Kingsbury Hall; tickets are $53.50 for Dec. 9 and $59 for Dec.12
>> The Alaskan Inn Bed and Breakfast with themed rooms; tickets are $130 for Sunday-Thursday ($150.00 plus tax normally) and $175 for Friday-Saturday ($220 plus tax normally)
Also popular are ITT's discounts with cruise lines and hotels. "We have great military discounts on cruises," Paula Speth, director of ITT, said.
Speth also noted that the military discounts usually apply only to active duty members. However, sometimes regulations change according to the destination or means of travel.
As the days get colder, Speth anticipates ski resorts to open up and start offering discount prices on their tickets as well. Ski tickets usually begin to become available around Thanksgiving, she said.
ITT offers tickets to all local ski resorts, including:
>> Powder Mountain, Snow Basin, and Wolf Mountain in Ogden
>> Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, and Solitude in Salt Lake City
>> Canyons, Deer Valley, and Park City in Park City
To anticipate the new brand of fun the winter brings, ITT is hosting a Winter Travel and Recreation Show on Nov. 19. The trade show, which will offer prizes and giveaways, will also feature information on the local ski resorts and recreational activities. The show will take place at the Hess Fitness Center, however the time has yet to be determined.
This year, ITT also features a Disney salute to military members. Special package deals on Disneyworld and Disneyland are available through ITT and include:
Disneyworld (Florida)
>> Active duty or retired military members are eligible to receive a free five-day park hopper, which includes the water park. Participants are also able to bring up to five friends or family at a discount price.
Five day pass, $99; five day park hopper, $124; five day park hopper plus water park, $149
The "Salute to Armed Forces: Disneyworld" offer ends on Dec. 31.
Disneyland (California)
>> Active duty or retired military members can receive a free three-day park hopper. Up to five friends or family can also visit for $94 per three-day park hopper.
The "Salute to Armed Forces: Disneyland" offer ends on Sept. 30.
The United States is one of the top countries in the world with the least amount of vacation time. Isn't it time we kick back and relax a little more?
