>> Capt. Laura Desio, Ogden Air Logistics Center assistant to the Judge Advocate General, will speak at the 4 p.m. Warrior Call at Club Hill. Her remarks will be about her experiences while deployed to Baghdad as part of the Law and Order Task Force where she worked extensively with the attorneys for the Central Criminal Court for Iraq as well as on detainee issues.
An observance will follow Warrior Call in honor of Sept. 11. Dress code is uniform of the day.
>> The Ogden Raptors will play the Orem Owlz at 7 p.m., at Lindquist Field in Ogden. Team Hill has free tickets as part of the events there that night. "The Hill Appreciation Night with the Ogden Raptors sponsored by the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee is one of their programs that supports Hill's quality of life and is a great gesture, on their part, of community support and appreciation for the men and women of Hill. We are honored to be the recipient, and can't think of a better way to say thank you than by filling the stadium full of Hill families for a night of good old-fashioned family fun," said Col. Patrick Higby, 75th Air Base Wing commander, in anticipation of the event.
"The Top of Utah Military Affairs (Committee) is gracious enough to sponsor such a fine family outing every year for Team Hill. I know that every summer beginning in early June, people around the base ask me about this particular night and when can they drop by to pick up their free tickets. It's become a fun summertime tradition that everyone looks forward to," said Valerie Burke, 75th ABW Community Relations representative.
General admission tickets, available in the 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office, Building 180, Room 109, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., may be upgraded at the park for a reserved box seat for $5.
>> American Legion Baker Merrill Post No. 9 in Ogden will present a Community Observance Remembering 9/11 at the Weber County Library, 2464 Jefferson St., Ogden, at 5 p.m., and special prelude music at 4:30 p.m. Among the guest speakers will be Ogden Fire Chief Mike Mathieu. For information, contact Bob Schuessler, commander, at wisclad@aol.com or by calling (801) 393-1475.
>> There will be a tribute concert and dance at Bella's Fresh Mexican Grill in Farr West, Harrisville, 2651 N. 1850 West, from 7:30 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. The event will use funds raised to send packages overseas to support the troops. Lantern Lane and Steeln Thunder will provide entertainment. A DJ will play music for the dance. Suggested donation before the concert and dance is $10 and participants who wish to have dinner beforehand are encouraged to make reservations to ensure they will be served. The patriotic theme is meant to provide a family friendly atmosphere and will be a healing event for all.
