HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Local kids visited Hill on August 5 to learn more about military aviation, as part of Utah Valley University’s Road Scholars program.
The group, which included adolescents who are interested in aviation careers and their family members, discussed military aviation with a 388th Fighter Wing pilot and then received a walk-around tour of an F-16 at Hill’s Aerospace Museum.
Capt. Jay Doerfler, F-16 pilot with the 421st Fighter Squadron, talked about what drove him to Air Force service, his personal aspirations to become an aviator, and his experiences as an F-16 fighter pilot.
The Road Scholars program offers many adventure-based learning programs for adults, including many “intergenerational” learning experiences, bringing together children and their grandparents.
