Hill AFB hosting 29th annual Retiree Appreciation Day

Hill Air Force Base is hosting its 29th annual Retiree Appreciation Day on Sept. 25. Registration, which is free and open to retirees from all branches of the Armed Forces, begins at 7:30 a.m. at The Landing, with the day’s events commencing at 8 a.m.

The event provides Hill AFB, local and national agencies an opportunity to voice their gratitude for the dedicated service of the tri-state area’s 22,000-strong retiree population, and to provide information regarding current benefits and entitlements. Services available to retirees both on and off the installation, such as those offered at Hill’s Health and Wellness Center and Utah’s Department of Veterans Affairs, will also be briefed during the day.

Katherine O’Neill Tracy, a retired commander with more than 26 years of active and Reserve service in the Navy, and now the Deputy Director of the Transition Center for the Military Officers Association of America, will be this year’s keynote speaker.

The 75th Mission Support Group’s newly appointed commander, Col. Dana Pelletier, and 75th Force Support Squadron Director, John Cullinane, will also speak to this year’s attendees, providing information regarding on-base events and resources.

More than 1,000 retirees are expected to participate.

Additionally, at least 20 federal, state and local agencies, including USAA, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the Air Force Sergeants Association, Tricare and the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, will participate at this year’s event.

The 75th Medical Group will also provide information regarding on-base pharmacy and clinic resources, as well as glucose screenings and flu vaccinations.

Drawings for prizes donated by the various agencies in attendance will take place throughout the day.

The event is scheduled to run until 4 p.m. For a full schedule and to acquire additional information about the event, contact the Hill AFB Retiree’s Activities Office at 801-777-5735 or email at hillrao@gmail.com.
