HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Air Force reservists from the 419th Fighter Wing are teaching Spanish to high school students at an American school near their deployed location in Southwest Asia. Senior Airman Daniel Gomez-Moyado and Senior Airman Manuel Medrano, 419th Logistics Readiness Squadron, volunteer during their off-duty time to tutor the students in Spanish speaking and comprehension skills.

“We volunteer about eight hours on our days off to teach the kids, just like a regular school day,” Gomez-Moyado said. “It’s a great way to get involved with the community and it gives us an opportunity to create stronger bonds.”

The Airmen have taught five classes at the school when not attending to their deployed responsibilities as materiel management specialists. The two are serving on a six-month deployment and are due to return home in June.
