JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas —
Twelve active-duty officers, including one from Air Force Materiel Command, were recently selected to attend the Inter-American Squadron Officer School, or ISOS, at the Inter-American Air Forces Academy, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, with the first of three classes starting in October 2018.
Capt. Andrew Lankow, a supply support chief in the F-22 division, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, will represent AFMC in the program.
The eight-week program is taught entirely in Spanish and emphasizes the development of potential Latin American foreign area officers for the U.S. Air Force.
Students learn airpower concepts including basic theories of warfare and the increasing role of aerospace and information systems in the joint environment. ISOS is equivalent to the in-residence SOS course taught at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
