ESDP briefings open to employees

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — The next cycle of the Emerging Supervisor Development Program, or ESDP, will soon be available.

The purpose of ESDP is to grow employees interested in supervision. It is a merit-based succession tool for developing individuals prior to being placed in a supervisory position.

A series of supervisor- and employee-specific informational briefings will be held Feb. 6-8 to ensure ESDP requirements, processes, and lessons learned are adequately socialized.

Attendance is highly encouraged for supervisors because they may be required to participate in the endorsement process and any employee who may be interested in self-nominating.

Briefings will be held in building 1279, room 5. Employees and supervisors only need to attend one of the following briefing session on Feb. 8, 7-7:30 a.m.; 9-9:30 a.m.; 1-1:30 p.m.; 3-3:30 p.m.

Program candidates are vetted by their organizations based primarily on demonstrated leadership competence.

Those selected for the program are provided an opportunity to acquire formal and experiential training.

During the last three cycles of ESDP, Hill AFB received more than 500 applications. Applicants go through a rating, endorsement, and possible interview to be selected into the program.

The FY18 cycle will be open to all Air Force Sustainment Center, Air Force Training Center, and Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center employees.

The self-nomination cycle will be open Feb. 26-March 9. There are limited program slots available by series and grade.

Complete program information may be obtained from AFSCI 36-101, AFSC Civilian Leader and Supervisor Development Continuum. Call the ESDP manager at 801-777-9152 for more information.
