HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Senior Airman Matthew Parker, a fire team member in the 419th Security Forces Squadron, challenges a vehicle at the entry control point during a training exercise here Sept. 9.
The training was conducted to prepare Airmen for future deployments and consisted of entry control point procedures, ID card checks, vehicle searches, self-aid and buddy care, mobile patrols, and prisoner of war procedures.
“Our job is to protect everyone on base,” said Staff Sgt. Ivan Velasquez, 419th SFS fire team leader. “We’re the frontline of defense so we have to be very good at our job”
The SFS, which is home to about 50 reservists, plans to continue these kinds of operations on a routine basis so its Airmen are prepared to join the fight whenever and wherever it may be.
