Starting Nov. 24th, giant holiday greeting cards that represent that represent Hill Air Force Base units, can be placed on Balmer Street in front of the Warrior Fitness Center. Traditionally cards were placed on Southgate Avenue, but this year the location has changed to Balmer Street for increased exposure.

“There are several reasons the card lane was moved, said Barbara McConvill, Marketing Director, FSS/FSK. “First, the Team Hill holiday tree will be located at Arts & Crafts (Bldg 534) directly west of the card lane. We are hosting a tree lighting on Dec. 3 from 4:30-6 p.m. and the cards will be judged before the event so they will get lots of visibility. There is also a tremendous amount of foot traffic in this area so the cards will get excellent viewing; that’s why we added the “people’s choice” award.”

To be eligible for judging, the card must be registered and in place no later than noon on Dec. 3. Registration is done via 75fss.com and the card must be identified on the back with a POC name, phone, and email, along with the organization name.

Generally, there are between 20 and 25 cards, but organizers are looking for more this year.

All groups on base are welcome to participate. “The card lane offers an opportunity for groups and squadrons to send a holiday greeting to their friends, co-workers, and the public … This event enhances the holiday spirit at Hill AFB, provides enjoyment for Team Hill and builds resiliency,” McConvill said. “Leadership will select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner with each receiving FSS gift cards in varying amounts; $500 for first, $300 for second, and $200 for third. In addition, this year we will add a “People’s Choice” award and they will get a recognition to hang on their office wall.”
