Due to the combined efforts of those who participated in the push-ups contest on Aug. 19, and those who sponsored competitors, a total of $1,622 was raised for the Team Hill awards programs, Junior Enlisted Center, Airmen Against Drunk Driving, Enlisted Spouses Group and other charitable efforts and entities at Hill Air Force Base.
Sean Conorich, a contractor with the 75th Security Forces Squadron, completed the most push-ups, which this year allowed rest periods, reaching a count of 411. On the women's side, Senior Airman Kristi Hotchkiss, of the 388th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron notched 220.
Second-place contestants racked up impressive numbers as well with Anthony Shinn posting 381, and Capt. Nancy Dias, Ogden Air Logistics Center, pounding out 163.
Third place were 1st Lt. Matthew Gridley, 538th Aircraft Sustainment Group, with 342 and Chief Master Sgt. (Ret.) Kathy Blake , of the OO-ALC, at 136.
Chief Master Sgt. Kevin Candler, Ogden Air Logistics Center and 75th Air Base Wing command chief, reported, "Contestants had a great time and several came together in teams of two to four warriors. All participants knew it was about physical fitness and giving back to the community." The command chiefs are planning their next challenge which will combine both strength and endurance in a team event, Candler said.
