HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — The 419th Fighter Wing hosted a group of business leaders from Georgia as part of an official Air Force civic leader tour July 12.
The group included business professionals from the area surrounding Robins Air Force Base, which is home to Air Force Reserve Command.
Col. David Smith, 419th FW commander, gave the group an in-depth look at the F-35 Lightning II, highlighting the aircraft’s capabilities and various milestones reached since the jet first arrived at Hill in September 2015.
In the past year, Airmen from the 419th FW and active duty 388th FW have deployed the Air Force’s newest fighter jet to England, Estonia, Bulgaria, France, and various locations within the U.S.
The stop at Hill AFB was the second on a two-day trip that included a tour of Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. While at Hill, the group also met with Utah civic leaders and toured the Ogden Air Logistics Complex F-22 coating facility.
Along for the tour was Lt. Gen. Maryanne Miller, Chief of Air Force Reserve and Commander of AFRC. In her dual role, Miller splits her time between Washington, D.C. and Robins AFB. She also visits Reserve units across the country to meet with Airmen and discuss successes, challenges, and needs.
