Hill AFB Spouses’ Club to host nonprofit holiday craft market
HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — The Hill AFB Spouses’ Club will host it’s 2017 “Helping Our Heroes” Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Davis Conference Center, 1651 North 700 West, in Layton, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The “Helping our Heroes” Holiday Market is a FREE-to-the-public annual craft and home business bazaar organized to provide funding for the Hill AFB Spouses’ Club community outreach programs such as veterans support and scholarships for military dependents.
Michael Peters, the Hill Spouses’ Club President, said, “This year and moving forward we aim to grow the ‘Helping our Heroes’ Holiday Market into one of the premier small business events in the area. The Hill Spouses’ Club, as well as our vendor partners, can give more to our community, reach more people, and prosper.”
As a group of volunteers, helping others solely motivates these Hill AFB spouses to succeed.
Of particular importance is providing education scholarships for very deserving men and women. Jamal Braxton, last year’s winner, of Northridge High School earned a scholarship to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy based on maintaining high academic standards with a GPA of 3.93 and volunteering extensively—both on and off base. He embodies our community’s deep desire to give.
“I’ve discovered that every single helping hand is welcome in these organizations and I know I can keep volunteering wherever I live,” Braxton said.
Jamal also earned the highly regarded Military Child of the Year from ‘Operation Home Front.’
