HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Members of the Air Force Association’s Northern Utah Chapter 235 were honored Sept. 16, 2017, at the AFA National Convention in Washington D.C. as the AFA’s Outstanding Large Unit of the Year for 2016/2017.
Chapter President Randy Tymofichuk accepted the award on behalf of the more than 300 members of Chapter 235.
Chapter 235, the oldest in Utah, directly supports the 75th Air Base Wing, ICBM and non-aircraft components of Hill AFB, as well as Utah State University Detachment 860 ROTC and two JROTCs.
The 2016/17 year provided chapter members opportunities to excel and get involved with many projects and events. The chapter’s focus is comprehensive and reflects a commitment to their annual activity plan with support to active-duty members, veterans’ events, recognition programs, community activities and the State of Utah Governor’s Office. They were especially proud of their work with the Utah Air National Guard in celebrating its 70th anniversary.
The Chapter continues the longstanding tradition of aerospace education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) work, and members continually look for other ways to support the Hill AFB community, Utah Reserve and Guard units, and Utah events and STEM activities.
This strong sense of volunteerism and commitment to the ideals of the Air Force and the AFA are not just accomplishments for 2016/2017, but hallmarks of a long legacy of excellence and outstanding service to Northern Utah.
