Hill AFB Team Lean Challenge participants lose 576 pounds

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Each fiscal year, Air Force Materiel Command offers two wellness challenges run by Civilian Health Promotion Services (CHPS). This spring, AFMC offered Team Lean Challenge (TLC), a command-wide initiative where AFMC civilian and active duty members could partner with a wingman and support one another in a mission to lose weight by learning healthy lifestyle changes.

During the 8-week challenge, TLC participants were required to participate with their local CHPS office for an official weigh-in and weigh-out, plus attend a new class titled “Master the Scale.” Participants had a goal of losing at least two percent of their initial weight in order to earn a completion award for continued support on their journey of getting to and maintaining a healthy weight.

AFMC had over 1,191 participants enrolled who lost a total of 1,974 pounds. Of the seven AFMC bases participating, Hill AFB had the highest participation at 318 enrollees and the highest weight loss totaling 576 pounds.

The top five TLC weight loss participants at each AFMC installation were also given an AFMC Civilian Wellness coin. Hill CHPS was proud to present coins to their top “losers”: Mr. Michael Crudele, Mr. John Krebs, Ms. Lindsey Oliver, Mr. Steve VanBallegooie and Mr. Brett Wiggill.
