Parking lot work at Med Clinic continues

April 19, 2012

Phase 3 of the effort to repave the medical clinic parking lot is scheduled through April 30, weather permitting. On April 16, the main driveway and the clinic parking area the furthest southeast of Building 570 will be closed for repaving. Traffic will be detoured to alternate parking areas. Accessibility and crosswalks will be maintained as deemed safe around construction equipment.

Alternate parking areas are northeast, near southeast, and west of the clinic. Whenever parking areas are blocked, alternate handicap parking will be marked and provided as near the building as possible. All others will need to use alternate parking areas near the clinic and plan for the added time in advance.

Additional articles will be published providing readers with further schedules during construction in this area. Your patience and safe travel practices through the affected area is of high importance for your protection and that of Team Hill members and guests.

TriCare dental plan premium rates '13

April 19, 2012

The TriCare Dental Plan (TDP) provides comprehensive dental care for more than 2 million enrollees worldwide including active duty family members and members of the Selected Reserve, Individual Ready Reserve and their eligible family members. Beginning May 1, the TDP will be administered by MetLife which will manage enrollment, claims processing and customer service.

Members will receive a welcome package and new enrollment card in the mail before the May 1 start date. Members who pay premiums through electronic funds transfer (EFT) should contact MetLife before April 20 to reauthorize payment to prevent a break in coverage. Rates will reset annually every Feb. 1.

The new contract with MetLife decreases first-year premiums from current rates for each enrollment category and enhances the following member benefits:

  • Coverage of posterior resin (tooth colored/white) fillings.
  • Increase in annual maximum coverage from $1,200 to $1,300 per enrollee.
  • Increase in lifetime orthodontic maximum from $1,500 to $1,750.
  • $1,200 per year for services related to dental treatment due to an accident as defined in the TDP benefit booklet.
  • No cost-shares for scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) for diabetics (additional expenses can be incurred for out-of-network dentists).

Women's Equality Day volunteers

April 19, 2012

The Equal Opportunity Office acts as advisors on behalf of the commander for special/ethnic observances and events throughout the year. The planning committee for the 2012 Women's Equality Day needs to be established. In 1971, Congress designated the day of Aug. 26, in the United States, as "Women's Equality Day." This date commemorates the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave U.S. women full voting rights in 1920. In order to properly plan and commemorate this observance, it is requested that each organization canvas their unit for volunteers who would like to chair or help with this event.

Committees are established to properly commemorate all special observances throughout the year that will greatly enhance the efforts to recognize the continuous achievements of all cultures and increase cultural awareness, mutual respect, and understanding. Thereby enhancing cross-cultural awareness and promoting harmony among all military members, their families, and the civilian workforce.

Weekly committee meetings will be held in the EO Office, Building 1294 South End. Date and time of the first meeting will be announced by the EO Office; follow-up meetings will be determined/announced by the committee.

All volunteers should contact. Vivian Cumins (777-3516) or Tech. Sgt Melanie Aytch (777-4778) or email: vivian.cumins@hill.af.mil if interested in signing up for this committee.

ROTC seeking officers for BYU program

April 19, 2012

The U.S. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is filling three Air Force officer vacancies for summer to fall 2012 at Detachment 855, Brigham Young University. Please consider coming to BYU for an assignment as an Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps instructor. It is a great career broadening assignment, or a capstone for your career if you are considering retiring in the near future. There have not been any volunteers approved by the Air force Personnel Center to fill the vacancies for the upcoming school year.

It is not a requirement to be a BYU alumnus, but an ecclesiastical endorsement is needed. Working with and teaching the next generation of Air Force leaders and officers is a wonderful opportunity. BYU is ranked in the Top 10 of the nation with respect to size and performance. It is reported that the program regularly beats West Point and USAFA in rifle drill team competitions. Finally, Utah is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

If you are interested in being a AFROTC instructor at BYU, or know someone who is, please call or email 801-422-2671 or laura_leseberg@byu.edu.
