THSOC seeks volunteers for leadership positions

The Team Hill Special Observance Council needs to fill several leadership positions for 2018-19. THSOC Executive Officer positions include: Chair, Co-Chair, Secretary, Public Affairs and Marketing.

The purpose of the THSOC is to enhance cross-cultural awareness and to provide special observance education for all military members, civilian employees, family members, and retirees.

The following is a description of each leadership position:

Chair – This position is filled by is highly-motivated senior noncommissioned officer, company grade officer or government service equivalent. The position requires a 12-month commitment. The Chair’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: presides over all meetings of the general membership and Executive Council, with the authority to vote only in the case of ties; appoints committee liaisons with majority approval of the Executive Committee and general membership; approve and signs general membership meeting minutes; prepares and coordinates all official correspondence through the EO office; notifies the installation commander of any proposed dates/events where attendance is requested at least 45 days in advance; manages and maintains positional continuity binder.

Co-Chairs – 2 vacancies (1 military and 1 civilian) – These positions are filled by highly-motivated senior noncommissioned officers, company grade officers or government service equivalents. The positions require a 12-month commitment. The Co-Chairs’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performs duties of the Chair, if absent, and by vote succeeds to that office in the event of absence or vacancy; performs the duties of the Secretary in the event of absence or vacancy; manages and maintains positional continuity binder.

Secretary – This position is filled by a highly motivated individual and requires a 12-month commitment. The Secretary’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: keeps a permanent record of all policies of the Team Hill Diversity Council; keeps a current list of all members and updates the THSOC “email address book” monthly; notifies all members of general meetings; records and posts all minutes of general membership meetings and submits them, with the Chair’s approval, within 10 duty days following the meeting; instructs the Co-Chair(s) in all duties of this office so that these duties may be performed in the absence of the Secretary; prepares and coordinates all official correspondence (e.g. electronic staff summary sheet, etc.); manages and maintains positional continuity binder. Minutes will be distributed as follows:

Original – Sent to the Executive Council Chair

Copies – SharePoint/Email

Marketing – This position is filled by a highly motivated individual and requires a 12-month commitment. Marketing’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assists in creation and design of ads, banners, t-shirts, etc.; leads quality control of internal issues/details before handing over information to THSOC Public Affairs; liaisons between base graphics and special observance committees; manages and maintains positional continuity binder.

Public Affairs (PA) – This position is filled by a highly motivated individual and requires a 12-month commitment. PA’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensures communication of all THSOC events and activities are adequately publicized to base and local community; solicits a diverse group of volunteers to assist with conducting observance events; liaison between base PA and Protocol as appropriate and special observance committees; manages and maintains positional continuity binder.

All applicants should be motivated and should display exemplary personal moral character. Applicants must meet the tenure requirements and complete an application endorsed by a section chief or equivalent.
