Wheels of Wonder

This is final Month of the Military Child event at Hill AFB in April. Wheels of Wonder is a chance for children and their parents to get up close and inside many base vehicles. This FREE event also showcases base and local helping agencies and local sponsors. Wheels of Wonder will take place April 28 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the CDC and The Landing parking lots.

AFSA golf tournament

The Air Force Sergeants Association is holding its 5th annual golf tournament at the Hubbard Golf Course, Hill Air Force Base, on Friday, May 5, at 8 a.m. This tournament is the primary fundraiser for the local AFSA chapter and proceeds will be used to advance the chapter’s interests and support various community outreach programs. Cost is $65 per person or $260 per team. The price includes fees, carts and lunch. The first 20 full teams to register and pay by April 14 will receive a goodie bag which includes extra putting string, two mulligans, a toss and four drawing tickets. Free dental care

Apex Dental in Sandy, Utah, will provide free dental care to service members and free cleanings to their family members April 29, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Call 801-566-8833 for information or to schedule a slot.

Mud Run

On Friday, May 5 at 8 a.m., the 775th Explosives Ordnance Disposal Flight will host a mud run in honor of the 2017 National EOD Day. Come out and compete in a 4-mile race which literally starts with a bang and has 21 obstacles between you and the finish. If you have participated in races like Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Warrior Dash or a multitude of other obstacle course races, you know how exciting and rewarding these experiences are. Participating is FREE and there will be t-Shirts for sale at the event. Donations are greatly appreciated as all proceeds from the race go to the EOD Warrior Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting our nation’s heroes. SE&TM awards

The 14th annual SE&TM awards celebration will be held May 9, the 85th anniversary of the first blind solo flight, at 10 a.m. at the Hill Aerospace Museum. SE&TM award winners from all centers will be recognized. No ticket is required to attend but tickets can be purchased for burritos. Please contact your center’s POC for ticket and event information.

MPF closure

On May 10, the Military Personnel Flight will be closed for Wingman Day. No personnel will be immediately available, however, the 419th Force Support Squadron will accept customers with emergencies to obtain new ID cards. Please ensure personnel contact the MPF to resolve or initiate any personnel related inquiries prior to or after May 10.

SR 193 construction

Utah Department of Transportation will begin road repairs on SR 193 from the Hill AFB South Gate east to Highway 89  beginning on April 17 through July 4.  Work will be done at night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.  This could impact morning traffic going westbound on SR 193 from Highway 89 to the Southgate.

AFMC Family Days observed in 2017

Hill AFB will observe the following AFMC Family Days in 2017: May 26, in conjunction with Memorial Day on May 29; July 3, in conjunction with Independence Day on July 4; Sept. 1, in conjunction with Labor Day on Sept. 4; Nov. 24, in conjunction with Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 23; and Dec. 26, in conjunction with Christmas on Dec. 25. The Hill AFB West Gate will be closed on all holidays including the Nov. 24 AFMC Family Day. Supervisors are encouraged to follow liberal leave procedures for Family Days and may approve annual leave, compensatory time, time-off award, credit hours, or leave without pay for their employees. ‘Plane Talk’ series

The Hill Aerospace Museum hosts a plane talk series featuring speakers related to the heritage of Hill AFB and the U.S. Air Force. Plane Talk is held on Saturdays at 1 p.m. in the museum auditorium. Talks are open to the public. For information, contact 801-777-6818. Admission is free.

B-25 at Heber City Airport, June 5-12

A restored B-25 will be available for all to see at Heber City Airport June 5-12, 2017 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. To reserve a ride aboard Maid in the Shade, contact 435-654-9990.
