Swinging on a Star Gala Feb. 10

The Children’s Service Society will a host a ‘Swinging on a Star Gala’ Feb. 10, at the Marriott City Center. The event will feature dinner, cocktails, a Jazz Band, a Swing Dance performance, a program featuring child abuse prevention services, and prize drawings. Save the date

The United States Air Force Academy Concert Band will perform Monday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m., at the Browning Center for the Performing Arts, Weber State University. FREE tickets are available at the Hill AFB Public Affairs Office, Building 1102, Room 115, beginning Feb. 6 until the day of the show, and NOW at WSU Wildcat Store locations. The performance will feature the world premiere of a musical piece written by Christopher Marshall, who will be in attendance. Even though this is a free concert, it is highly encouraged that everyone get a ticket no later than 15 minutes before the concert. Non-ticket holders will be admitted if seating is available. Runway Ruby’s to close Feb. 15

The Runway Ruby’s restaurant located in Bldg. 1235 on the west side of the installation will permanently close Feb. 15. The contractor is closing the restaurant due to financial hardship and continuing losses. The 75th Force Support Squadron is working to bring in another restaurant to the west side of the installation; however, officials said there will be an unspecified period of time food service will not be available. 

Engineers Week 21-25 Feb

It’s time to celebrate the technical disciplines! To help, Hill’s AFSC/EN, BAE, AIAA, and other professional partners have joined forces to set aside a whole week of amazing activities. Catch any or all of the engaging speakers, both on and off base, throughout the week (including Dan Adamo; Info: www.facebook.com/events/1441356849216570/). Check out this year’s engineering challenge: Levitate!, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m. at the Hill Aerospace Museum. Attend the week’s culminating event, a banquet featuring Martin Frey (First person to climb all seven summits and sail all seven seas; Info: utahengineerscouncil.org). Base tax center

The base tax center is open until Tuesday, Apr. 18. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The new location is 5837 D Avenue, Building 152. Tax return preparation is a free service for active duty, reservists on orders, dependents and retirees. Monday-Thursday will be by appointment 9 a.m.-noon and walk-ins accepted noon-3 p.m. Friday will be walk-ins 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. (non-complicated returns).

Clinic, pharmacy closure Feb. 20

The 75th Medical Group Clinic and Pharmacy will be closed Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents Day.

Hiring Utah’s Heroes job fair March 23

Hiring Utah’s Heroes is a job fair that will be held March 23 at the South Towne Exposition Center located at 9575 South State Street, Sandy. The event is free and open to military members, veterans and their spouses. The fair will feature more than 90 employers. Additionally, several veterans services organizations will be on site to assist and provide information. All employers will have a variety of open positions available the day of the event. AFMC Family Days in 2017

Hill AFB will observe the following AFMC Family Days in 2017: May 26, in conjunction with Memorial Day on May 29; July 3, in conjunction with Independence Day on July 4; Sept. 1, in conjunction with Labor Day on Sept. 4; Nov. 24, in conjunction with Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 23; and Dec. 26, in conjunction with Christmas on Dec. 25. The Hill AFB West Gate will be closed on all holidays including the Nov. 24 AFMC Family Day. Supervisors are encouraged to follow liberal leave procedures for Family Days and may approve annual leave, compensatory time, time-off award, credit hours, or leave without pay for their employees. Team Hill Ski Day

The Team Hill Ski Day will be held at Powder Mountain, March 31. Free day passes will be available for all active-duty military and veterans. Spouses, immediate family and civilians with a base ID will receive a 50 percent discount on day passes. Ski and snowboard rentals will be available from Outdoor Recreation for $20.
